A little about A BeeKeeper…

LOCAL AND PRIVATELY OWNED

Did you know… ?

If you buy honey from a major retailer, you’re honey is probably from China or South America and has been pasteurized.  The heat in this process actually weakens the nutritional health benefits from natural, fresh honey, and you don’t have to be an expert to raise them.

Apiaries custom tailored to each owner

The Apiaries

Believe it or not, Apiaries are extremely low maintenance and start up costs are low as well!  At an average of about $500, you can start raising your own bees.  The Apiary can be custom designed to your liking as well, with artwork to show off your own style.  Since the bees multiply on their own under ideal conditions and produce the honey, your primary concern will be when to collect the honey.  When the Apiary gets overcrowded, you can also create a second one, or sell the bees with queens bringing a premium.  Since we handle maintenance and upkeep for you, your main concern will be what to do with the extra honey you have (sell it or store it) and what to do with the money you earn for selling the extra bees!

Apiary with unique benefits for a beekeeper

Each area is endowed with its own unique surroundings.  From the flowers that inhabit the land, to the creatures that indwell there.  Because of that, each Apiary has the unique ability to have different flavors, smells, and textures.  The flowers you have in your front yard could help your honey have a different flavor than a neighbor across the street!

apiaries produce multiple goods

Good Golly!

As stated already, beekeeping produces more than honey. Hives, or apiaries, can also product numerous things such as beeswax, honeycomb, pollen, royal jelly, and propolis.

Add to this that Honey I’m Home actually partners with its customers as entrepreneurs by consigning their yields! Our beekeepers won’t be left wondering how to sell/market their product once the harvest is ready.

beekeepers:
Our history

How we got started as beekepers

Even though we weren’t planning to get into beekeeping, it was definitely no accident!

Woody O’Connell is one of the premier beekeepers in Georgia and he’s one of few beekeepers who teach how to live with bees after a swarm removal.

Woody O’Connell was always fascinated by bees and how their hive community operated. Over 15 years ago after his fascination got the better of him, he finally took the plunge and ordered his first colony. It didn’t take him long to realize his love and passion for beekeeping and tending to his own apiary. He learned quickly how the bees operate and how they work together. Since he’s spent so much time with them, Woody has learned how to interact with the bees, earning him the title of “Bee Whisperer” from his customers. The rest, as they say, is history!

Now Woody, along with his customers, shares a passion for the little insect and passes on his knowledge and expertise to help others not only develop their own passions for the hobby, but also allows them to use his apiary designs to develop their own brand of bee-related products. Want to know more about Honey I’m Home’s services? Click the button below!

Got to see first hand where my honey came from and learn about the process of collecting honey! And I got to try some more of this liquid gold!  So amazing!

Scored some honey from a friend who claimed it from a wild hive! Sweet, but not overly so. A touch of wild flavor, but not gamey. Makes your lips tingle a bit. Thanks Woody O’Connell!
